Join Willis Tower for Earth Hour 2017

March 24, 2017

Join Willis Tower and thousands of participants from around the world by taking part in Earth Hour 2017.

Earth Hour Chicago is asking residents, businesses and organizations to voluntarily turn off their lights to reduce energy consumption for one hour between 8:30PM and 9:30PM this Saturday, March 25th. This event is to raise awareness about climate change and global warming.

Willis Tower is proud to once again participate in Earth Hour. We will be shutting off the lights that illuminate the antennas and all common area non-essential lighting.  We encourage tenants to turn off task lighting and eliminate any overtime lighting during this hour. All lights vital to tenant safety will remain on. Window blinds throughout the building will be closed and we ask that any employees working in the building during Earth Hour leave the blinds closed.

We encourage you to participate at home. Here are a few things you can do at home during Earth Hour:

  • Invite friends and family over for a "lights-out" party and serve green-themed snacks and drinks.
  • Use the quiet time to take a break from a "plugged-in" world by meditating or resting.  Turn off the lights and power down your computer and cell phone.
  • View the night sky via telescope - the reduced "light pollution" may make some stars more visible.
  • Take photos of how you spent Earth Hour and upload them to the Earth Hour pages on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
